Riley Specials

These will include cars turned into specials through mishaps ranging between falling walls (squish) to woodworm (common), car crashes (ouch) to the recent version where a  good saloon is chopped for financial gain as worth more with a racier body for people with little scholarship but deep pockets. What becomes clear from this data once listed is that the early fabric bodied cars and especially Monaco's were re bodied into cars as the timber and fabric crumbled quite early on to keep a valuable car running. Cars like the Biarritz and Continental as so large and not nippy are likely to have been turned into 'specials' after major body remodeling (crashes etc) ditto the Lincock and Gamecock ( suspect tree jumping into road). The problem comes with later cars and 12/4 Briggs bodies as yes the war and blitz remodeled a few but not in the numbers they appear as specials as disproportionate to earlier ages.  Again listed with chassis number to determine origins and anyone with reasons any car was remodeled or information please email. This car (AKV 892)  was damaged by bombs in the Coventry blitz. It was actually  rebuilt as a Kestrel and still runs , but I could not find any squished Riley pics. Consider it a reminder of what history did to some cars.
